The largest Disney fan event in the world will be taking place September 9th through 11th at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
Others include the popular WonderCon, and the landmark D23 Expo, the next of which takes place in just a few weeks. Outside of the Anaheim Convention Center, more fans gathered around in their most creative costumes to celebrate all things Star Wars. Some cosplayers were even invited to the stage in a special competition that took place on the Galaxy stage. There was lots of cosplay that was to be expected, including favorite villains and heroes like Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Chewbacca and Stormtropers. Many of these fans choose to cosplay as their favorite characters to attend events like Comic Con and Star Wars Celebration, and while everyone is focused on the city further south, I thought we’d take a look at the fun that happened in Anaheim at the city’s convention center in Late May. Fast forward to now and Disney has launched its very own subscription streaming service, Disney+, which brings the whole of Star Wars to stream in one space – including the Skywalker saga, as well as new series The Mandalorian and spin-off films Solo and Rogue One.While throngs of fans descended upon San Diego to take place in this year’s Comic-Con, it was only a few weeks ago that many of those same fans (and others, too!) arrived just up the freeway in Anaheim, California for Star Wars Celebration. Then, Star Wars was released on VOD for the first time, with all six episodes available to buy and rent in SD and HD (although sadly not in hologram form). In 2015, though, that changed: as the world got increasingly excited about Episode VII, Lucasfilm took a leap into the digital universe. Star Wars has long been the territory of DVDs and Blu-rays, as endless box sets were released complete with original cuts, the CGI-padded special editions, and bonus features.
The question is: where can you watch Star Wars online legally in the UK? Whether it’s May the 4th or your own marathon on Disney+, sometimes you just get the urge to binge all of George Lucas’ saga in a row.
